The ideal applicant would be a Contracts Administrator, a Project Engineer, or a Junior Project Manager with strong skills set in commercial management, who has been working for a building contractor on data centres or other complex mission critical facilities. Had you continued your career with a building contractor then you would have been moving into a Senior Project Engineer or Project Management role next. You will be employed as an entry level Project Manager with this Client-Side Project Management Company.
The reason they are so focused on contracts management experience is because it is essential to have above average commercial management skills to perform to a high level in this role.
You will be joining an agile team of hand-picked high performers. You will work a five-day week; you will have a degree of flexibility to work from home when appropriate. The team are focused when meeting critical deadlines but when in-between projects you do not have to sit at your desk just to show face.
As part of the role, you will join in all activities on site and provide project management support to the superintendent, Project Director, and the team. You will lead minor works projects, consult with local authorities, assess design, lead procurement and contract administration both head contract and consultants. In addition, you will report on cost, time, risk, and progress.
The ideal person will have the following skills and attributes:
- Tertiary Qualified in Building or Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying
- A competent history of preparing cost forecasts, preparing cash flow analysis, and monitoring financial outcomes on significant construction projects.
- Ideally have prior working knowledge of mission critical projects
- Extensive experience of assessing subcontractor variations and preparing head contract variations
- Awareness of commercial and legal issues pertaining to head contracts
- Experience of capably consulting with clients and building robust working relationships with stakeholders
The role will be site based on a significant data centre campus with an industry leading DC company that services international hyperscale, government and retail customers, commissioned to international hyperscale standards.
