Qualifications

This is a crucial role for an established National Building Company -  a multi-award-winning employer of choice that build complex landmark construction projects. The company are in a strong financial position in Australia. They have a long history of success and a dedicated team of high performers.

They are looking for a practical, initiative-taking Contracts Manager to join their phenomenally successful fit out and refurbishment division. Projects in this division range from $5M - $100M. Some of the projects have complex structural elements to the build and so a candidate with a solid construction knowledge but a passion for fast track fit out projects would be an excellent choice. They want someone who gets down to business and is very much part of the team and sees their role as being a supportive one to the project teams rather than an authority figure.

You will support the NSW Fit- out and refurbishment delivery team and the senior managers with all contract reviews. You will train, mentor, and support the team in all aspects of commercial management. This will be done in a very practical, hands-on capacity. You will act in an advisory capacity in relation to construction contracts generally, dispute resolution, head contract negotiations and all matters arising in relation to the security of payments act. You will report to a Commercial Manager.

You must be a strong communicator who can engage people to listen and can put across sometimes quite complex messages in a way that is easily understood. You need to be the kind of person who questions everything, someone who delves a little deeper to find solutions. You need to be a strong negotiator but in the same breath you must also be someone who collaborates to get a good outcome rather than someone who forces change.
