Qualifications

This successful construction business has a history of achievements that spans over three decades. They operate over several sectors and have a very strong reputation for managing extremely complex refurbishment projects mostly in occupied buildings. They construct new build and fit out and refurbishment projects. Project values range from $500K up to $15M. They build health care, commercial, educational, industrial and hospitality projects.

They have built very strong relationships with clients and are in a position now where they are able to negotiate a lot of work. They have no intention of growing much bigger; they are just focused on being excellent builders, fostering a happy and safe working environment, cultivating long term relationships with subcontractors and constructing buildings that surpass the expectations of the end users.

They currently have a career opening for a Leading Hand / Sub Foreperson who is looking for a long-term permanent career role and has aspirations to work towards a General Foreperson and / or a Site Management position.

Some criteria are essential for this company. You must have completed a carpentry trade. It is necessary that you have already had some exposure to managing subcontractors as a Leading Hand or a Sub Foreperson for a commercial building company. Previous experience of working in occupied buildings would be advantageous.

You have to be able to read and interpret construction drawings with ease. Ideally you will have a working knowledge of set out, structures and finishes and have a strong understanding of services. Safety must be at the forefront of you mind at all times.

Your carpentry trade skills will have benefited you ensuring that you have a sharp eye for detail. Your written communication skills and computer skills should be above average. Critical to your success in this role will be your outstanding communication skills. On site you work with the subcontractors and you understand that taking a 'partnership approach' to construction gets a better finish and results in a happier team.
