This contractor delivers construction, refurbishment and interior fitouts across commercial offices and work places. They also manage heritage, adaptive reuse, health, retail, hotels and restaurant projects.

About This Role

A boutique building contractor seeks a Project Engineer to join their team of high performers for a full time permanent career role. This contractor delivers construction, refurbishment and interior fitouts across commercial offices and work places. They also manage heritage, adaptive reuse, health, retail, hotels and restaurant projects.

As a Project Engineer you would be responsible for all engineering and technical aspects during the construction process. Input will be required from concept to completion of each assigned project. The Project Engineer is essentially assessing the overall quality control of the work encompassing budgets, scheduling, program and design. This includes reviewing engineering deliverables, responding to requests for information and providing technical support to the subcontractors.

Responsibilities:
• Interpret drawings for implementation in construction projects
• Coordination of design and construction
• Coordination and liaison with the Client and all other stakeholders
• Establish detailed programs for the coordination of site activities
• Tender stage procurement, securing of contractors and pre-qualification checks
• Maintain supplier relationships
• Site establishment and planning
• Contract administration (procurement planning and execution, RFIs, subcontractor compliance, monthly progress claims and variation documentation)
• Construction coordination and subcontractor management
• Review sub-contract shop drawing for compliance with the architectural drawings and ensure the architect reviews and signs off shop drawings
• Review subcontractor ITP’s and checklists to ensure compliance and to track against the construction program
• Manage and enforce throughout the project HSEQ and site specific documentation
• Identify risks to health and safety through SWMS, special processed and corrective actions
• Ensure safety and environmental compliance
• Maintaining all relevant project document control and records
• Obtain all documents, certificate and As-Builts for project close-out

Requirements:
• Tertiary qualified in Engineering or Construction Management
• A strong eye for design related issues
• Strong leadership capabilities and excellent communication skills.
• An ability to handle pressure and be able deliver against strict deadlines
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Previous experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the above mentioned duties and responsibilities with a high degree of competence.
