Qualifications

Award winning building contractor who constructs technically challenging commercial, education, aged care, hospitality, health care, retail and other specialist projects seeks Senior Project Engineer who has previously had leadership role working on design and construct building projects. This is an outstanding opportunity to assist an established Project Manager working on technically challenging projects.

The Senior Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager to facilitate effective running of construction projects from concept to completion ensuring time, cost and quality targets are continually achieved. Prospective candidates must already have an outstanding working knowledge of essential services, a proven commercial acumen and prior experience of consulting with multiple stakeholders in live environments.

Duties include:

Construction Programming
  • Prepare and monitor mid-range and short-range programs and assist with submission of extensions of time.
  • Develop and monitor design and procurement programs.

Contract Administration

  • Lead all contractual requirements, variations, scope of works and tender quotations in relation to subcontractor engagement and management.
  • Assist the Project Manager with head contract negotiations.
  • Under direction of Project Manager issue all correspondence with stakeholders.
  • Assist in tender submissions, post tender interviews and client and authority liaison.

Quality Safety and Environment

  • Continually assess and take all reasonable actions in relation to quality, safety and environmental policies, procedures, and guidelines as set out by the Company.
  • Comply with relevant statutory requirements and monitor and direct team to ensure compliance.
  • Take charge of all paperwork and administration in relation to quality, safety and environmental policies including SWMS, ITP’s, incident reports, environmental performance and actively ensure team adhere to policies.

Site / Personnel Management

  • Take leadership role with site personnel and subcontractors.
  • Coach and train where appropriate
  • Assist in performance and development of personnel.
  • Lead by example to promote well being and team camaraderie.
Client Liaison
  • Under direction of Project Manager issue correspondence to clients and function as an additional point of contact to answer any client questions and ensure progress reports are forthcoming
  • In the absence of Project Manager be prepared to organise and lead client and stakeholder meetings

Applicants must be tertiary qualified in construction management, civil engineering or a related degree and have between five to ten years industry experience including time spent managing personnel on complex design and construct projects.
