This company are a boutique multi award winning building contractor with a fantastic history of success and a very low turnover of staff. They specialise in extremely challenging technically difficult commercial construction projects in the $0.5M – $10M range, for private and public sector clients.
Many of the projects are fit out and refurbishment projects mostly with complicated services and often with considerable structural elements. They also do some new build construction projects which tend to be unusual, one off projects. A lot of the projects are in occupied buildings for high profile clients who have extraordinary expectations.
Due to an increased workload they are now able to employ an energetic and conscientious Site Manager who they hope will be an investment for the company and a very long-term employee. They are looking for a Site Manager with a very specific set of skills and attributes.
They need someone who is smart, calm under pressure and a fabulous communicator who enjoys constantly solving challenges. A lot of the projects that they build require interface with the public, are in occupied buildings and some have limited access. Some of the projects are extremely complex because the buildings house laboratories and specialised clinics with high tech elaborate equipment. To successfully complete some of the refurbishments it is necessary to build a structure within an existing structure to shield the specialist equipment.
The successful Site Manager will need to possess very strong computer skills and be confident in the use of MS Project and be able to program complicated projects. Strong written communication skills will also be necessary as will an ability to read and interpret complex drawings. A concise understanding of services and a high degree of aptitude in safety, planning and co-ordinating are also necessary. This building contractor has a very distinctive culture; it is dynamic, almost entrepreneurial.
You have absolutely no desire to be a ‘cog in a wheel’ on a huge landmark job. You want to take control and have complete ownership of a project from concept to completion. You need to be a decision maker. You like to work in the fast track; you want to deliver projects that are intricate and challenging to build. You have a fantastic eye for detail, an ability to constantly look ahead, strong relationships with subcontractors and an ability to motivate and inspire a team.
You will be a key person in a financially secure, stable company where everyone works together as a team and is focused on exceeding client expectations while delivering unique, often exclusive, multifaceted construction projects.
Interviews for this role will begin towards the latter part of January 2020 with the intention of someone commencing after Australia Day. They are also happy to wait until the end of February or beginning of March for the right person.
